The BC Bee Breeders Association is a group of enthusiastic beekeepers interested in bringing the production and breeding of honey bee stock to a new level in British Columbia. The members share a desire to learn more about honey bees and promote effective bee breeding practices in their production.
As a collaborative group, we exchange ideas and knowledge at our field days, tours and meetings. To enhance our knowledge, we invite speakers with global experience to address our group at meetings and field days or help support speakers of interest at BC Honey Producers’ Association (BCHPA) meetings. We believe in the importance of initiating and supporting research projects in the areas of bee stock production, disease resistance, and breeding desirable traits.
We promote our members and their bee stock production on a quarterly basis through advertisements in the BeeScene. When the interest warrants, we make group purchases of nuc and queen supplies. We hold meetings twice annually in conjunction with the BCHPA annual and semi-annual meetings.
B.C. Bee Breeders Association meetings are open to all interested beekeepers. If you are interested in joining our group and are a member in good standing with the BCHPA, please contact our treasurer. (See BC Bee Breeders current executive members) BC Bee Breeders’ membership is currently $50 per year.
